XEALOTS – Dave Gibbons | GIVEAWAY

Stew from Verge Network interviews Dave Gibbons about his new book, Xealots: Defying the Gravity of Normality. Reviewers of the book are using phrases like “an inspirational and life changing book” and ”the perfect book for all of us who think a bit different” to describe this extraordinary new book from Dave.

FYI - Dave will be speaking, interacting, ideating and challenging us at the Verge Conference in Austin, Texas – Feb. 28-Mar. 2, 2012. Group Registration ends THIS MONTH (Nov. 30), so be sure and register your group now and get $50 off the Regular Price.

Because Dave is such a good friend of the Verge Network, he and his publisher, Zondervan, are helping us give away 50 FREE copies of his new book, XEALOTS.

50 FREE BOOKS!

But what is the book about?

Like many Christians, Dave Gibbons thought ‘life to the full’ meant just the positives — a life full of joy and happiness. After all, isn’t that what we’re taught in seminars, in self-help books, and even in psychological assessments to ascertain who is — and is not — a ‘good fit’?

We look for people with lots of successes and strengths, don’t we? Gibbons’ own beliefs on the subject were rocked when he took a long, hard, honest look at his own life and realized it was his failures that made him who is today.

So he went back to the Scriptures, and kept his eyes open to truly see the people around him. That’s when he made a shocking discovery: when we embrace the painful areas of our lives we see the miracle that can happen when God redeems these areas of weakness and makes them beautiful.

‘Now I see that ‘life to the full’ means a life that is open to all the colors and flavors of the human experience, the ability to feel with a fully alive heart, whether it’s in times of joy or pain.’ XEALOTS offers a refreshing new look at what it means to be fully human.

This uplifting book enables you to transform your own ‘failures’ into success in God’s eyes so that you can serve him with all that you are.

Not only do I believe this will help me to open my mind to the creativity and innovative Spirit of God. Plus, it will be something I can place in the hands of my students who think that Christians don’t have many creative voices…they haven’t read Dave Gibbons!

I liked The Monkey and the Fish a lot and have enjoyed Gibbons’ thoughts through the years.  Xealots looks solid too – I do frame the “abundant life” now (and later) idea in a number of my messages as part of the beauty of the Christian faith.

Heard Dave speak at catalyst and would love to read his new book Xealots.  I am a young pastor in FL, limited resources…help a brother out! :)

Hi there! Thanks for running this comp. I was very excited to see my name up there (@cilionelle). Then I read ‘addresses/PO boxes in the US only.’ given that that wasn’t in the original comp rules, is there any chance I can get this sent to Australia, which is where I’m ministering?
